With a wonderful musical evening filled with emotion, sumptuous sound and top-notch interpretation, last night in the St. Sophia Church the traditional Evening of the European Union was celebrated as part of the Ohrid Summer festival.
Under the title “Last Rose of Summer”, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy the extraordinary concert byJohanna Keszei on flute, David Tobin on violin and Finghin Collins on piano.
The beautiful ambience of the St. Sophia Church further enriched the musical story, in which the sumptuous tones of the violin, piano and flute intertwined. The performances of works by Elgar, Reinecke, John Field, Tchaikovsky and William Vincent Wallace brought different musical worlds, united in one impressive and emotional whole.
A special place in the program was occupied by the work “Fantasy and Variations on the Theme of “Last Rose of Summer” by Wallace, which with its tenderness and virtuosity was a kind of musical crown of the evening.
The audience awarded the outstanding artists with thunderous applause, who organized another unforgettable festival evening under the arches of the St. Sophia Church.
The European Union Evening is being held for the nineteenth year in a row at the Ohrid Summer Festival, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Macedonia, confirming the strong connection between European culture and art that the Ohrid Summer Festival traditionally fosters.
