Three whole days after the AHV banned drinking Gostivar water and thousands of people fell ill from its consumption, Gostivar Mayor Valbon Limani announced that the situation in recent days in Gostivar will be discussed at an extraordinary session of the Gostivar Municipality Council. This comes 72 hours after the start of the water supply disaster that infected thousands of people.
The mayor added that soon, but did not say when, the crisis headquarters will also meet, in order to make “decisions to overcome the problems with the increased number of ill people”.
“The director of the Public Enterprise Communal Hygiene Artana Asani has been suspended along with several other people responsible for the city’s water supply,” Limani told a press conference.
Many hours after the accident, the local government finally announced the number of citizens who are unable to provide drinking water, so that it can be brought closer to their homes.
Limani also expressed gratitude to all companies and individuals who have recently engaged in overcoming the shortage of drinking water. He did not mention the Government’s help.
In the 2025 elections, Limani was elected with the help of DUI’s votes, Taravari’s party and the votes from Venko Filipche’s SDSM.
