Professor Mihajlo Markovikj and Professor Sonja Novotni were awarded the “Goce Delčev” state award Monday in the Macedonian Parliament for particularly significant achievements in the interest of the Republic of North Macedonia in the field of science. The award was handed to them for “Continuity of the Macedonian Language I” (A Review of the Lexicon between the Slepche Paternik, Mirror and Various Teaching Teachings).
The diplomas and statuettes with the image of Goce Delchev were presented to the winners by the headof the “Goce Delchev” Award Committee, Academician Zhivko Popov.
“The idea of establishing this most important scientific recognition in our country is to reward and encourage scientific creators to create new works that were valuable and of interest to our country, but at the same time contribute to the development of science on an international level. It was first awarded in 1949 to the first MANU president Blazhe Koneski, a scientist who dedicated his life to the study of the Macedonian language and its codification. Before us is a work that continues the tradition of studying the language with a significant specific contribution to it,” added Popov.
Macedonian Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska says that today is not just a date on the calendar on which the great Goce Delchev is paid tribute. Today, the minister pointed out, is the day when the Macedonian country celebrates the power of the mind, labor and scientific achievements.
