The Macedonian Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources most sharply and unequivocally denies “the unfounded, manipulative and knowingly false claims of the opposition SDSM, which once again show that as an opposition they have neither arguments nor credibility – but only a need to cover up their own responsibility for the financial chaos they left behind in the energy sector.”
“Minister SanjaBozhinovska’s reference to the state of the budget referred exclusively to the real possibility of the state itself financing a project of such scale and importance as the Chebren hydroelectric power plant – an investment worth over a billion euros. In doing so, the Minister clearly and responsibly pointed out that no project, no matter how significant, must mean stopping funds for healthcare, education, infrastructure and other key public investments. We publicly state what is financially possible and what would be irresponsible and risky for the state. That is the difference between responsible politics and dangerous populism – a difference that SDSM clearly must learn,” said the Energy Ministry in a press release on Tuesday.
The ministry points out that the fact that the capital part of the budget is limited today is a direct consequence of years of “uneconomic, chaotic and irresponsible management, a period in which not a single strategic capital project was implemented, and the state was indebted without a clear vision and results.”
