An intercity train on the Prilep-Bitola-Zhabeni route is expected to start operating no later than June, announced Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksandar Nikoloski on Thursday.
The new railway line aims to facilitate communication between the two neighboring cities, especially in conditions of difficult road traffic.
The Deputy PM informs that coordination is underway with the competent railway companies for the establishment of the new line.
“We are working with Macedonian Railways – Infrastructure and Macedonian Railways – Transport. I just spoke with the director and we expect to launch an intercity train that will operate on the Prilep – Bitola – Zhabeni line no later than June,” said Nikoloski.
He stresses that the line will be particularly useful for citizens who travel daily, as well as for employees in the Zhabeni industrial zone.
“There will be a promotional price of MKD 150 for a return ticket. That is by far the most affordable thing that can be found on the market, considering that someone would pay more just for parking, not to mention gasoline if they were using a car,” Deputy PM Nikoloski added.
