The Holy Synod of Bishops (HSB) of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric (MOC – OA) at a regular session Wednesday formed a commission to resolve the material situation of the newly formed dioceses.
At the session, Metropolitan Naum of Strumica was elected as a new member of the permanent (working) composition of the Synod, and Metropolitan Pimen of Europe was elected as his deputy.
“The Holy Synod of Bishops (HSB) of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric (MOC – OA), at its regular plenary session, held on May 26, 2026, considered several issues and events related to the life of our Holy Church. The Holy Synod reviewed and adopted the annual reports of the eparchies of the MOC – OA in the homeland and the diaspora, paying special attention to those indicators that testify to the demographic situation among the Macedonian Orthodox people. Guided by pastoral care, the Holy Synod of Bishops decided to establish a Fund for the Support of Large Families,” the MOC-OA said after the session.
Considering the state of the spiritual and cultural wealth of Macedonian temples and monasteries, as they inform, the Synod regretfully concluded that due to the lack of sufficient professional staff to conserve it, it is in poor condition.
The Holy Synod urges the competent institutions to urgently take appropriate measures in order to preserve what has been left to us by our predecessors. As the founder of the educational institutions of the MOC – OA, the Synod welcomed the work of the Administration of the Theological Seminary, which implemented a 4-year curriculum in the 2025/26 academic year, and the day for enrollment of new students will be on June 19, 2026.
