The Crisis Management Center (CMC) reports that the smoke over almost the entire area of the city of Skopje in the early afternoon hours today comes from the active fire in the Mount Kitka area, in the area of the municipalities of Studenichani and Zelenikovo.
According to the CMC, the wind is carrying the smoke towards the capital, which is why a significant presence of smoke is felt and observed in several parts of Skopje.
At the same time, two fires of dry grass and low degraded forest have been registered on the territory of the Municipality of Ilinden. Interior Ministry’s helicopter has been working on extinguishing the fire. So far, the CMC has not received any reports of a possible fire on Mount Vodno, except for the two fires of dry grass and low degraded forest in the Municipality of Ilinden, and from the Municipality of Capaj – the village of Bojane, where a forest has been affected.
The CMC currently has no information that the smoke over Skopje is a consequence of a new fire in the city itself, but they link it to the fire burning in the Kitka area.
