The main opposition party SDSM blames Interior Minister PancheToshkovski, the Ministry of Interior, the Social Services Center, and the entire institutional and state system for the tragedy in Skopje’s Karposh, in which a 30-year-old mother and six-year-old daughter lost their lives, allegedly as a result of domestic violence.
“The tragedy in the Skopje neighborhood of Karposh, where two lives of a mother and child tragically ended, showed serious shortcomings of the institutions for protection from domestic violence. For two years, domestic, physical, and psychological violence has been reported. There were as many as 12 reports for the husband, who also had other charges, and in the last case, drugs were found on him,” the opposition party said in a press release.
SDSM added that the competent institutions were alerted, it was reported that they had information, there were indications of risk, and with their inadequate reaction, they did not protect the victims.
“There must be accountability for all these institutional failures. We demand the resignation of PancheToshkovski, a proper investigation that will determine the responsibility of all officials from the Ministry of Interior, the centers for social work, and all other institutions by name,” SDSM underlined.
