A total of 632 Macedonian citizens have requested information about evacuation from affected countries in the Middle East. The greatest interest has come from Macedonian nationals currently in Abu Dhabi (around 447). Technical and logistical details are being finalized so they can return on charter flights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT)said Wednesday.
Regarding Macedonian nationals in Israel, the number remains unchanged. For some of them (a total of 6 people), the evacuation was completed through the mediation of the Ministry and they decided to leave for Skopje at their own expense on commercial flights. The remaining six people, who expressed their readiness for evacuation, will be transported by land from Israel to Egypt during the day, with the assistance of diplomatic and consular missions. They will be accommodated in a secure location, in a hotel at the expense of the state, and are expected to fly safely to Skopje on a government plane Thursday.
As for Macedonian nationals in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, the diplomatic and consular mission in Abu Dhabi, in coordination with the competent institutions, is in the process of finalizing the technical and logistical details for the organization of charter flights. The Ministry’s goal is, in coordination with the authorities in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, to provide several charter flights for the evacuation of the registered persons.
