Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters on Wednesday he had an online meeting with the head of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman, discussing the legislation and reforms the country needs to implement by December 2026 as part of the Reform Agenda.

Mickoski, in response to a reporter’s question, assessed that the country continues to fulfill its obligations, and that with the exception of the Electoral Code, which, he emphasized, “for known reasons, has not been adopted in public,” the other steps for the reform legal solutions have been fulfilled.

“Of those that were in the ‘grace period’, only the Electoral Code remains, everything else has been completed. And of those that are in the regular procedure, most have been completed. Today we had a meeting via an online connection with Brussels and with Mr. Koopman. We are already discussing the laws and reform steps, which are in a “grace period” until December of this year and which are within the planned deadline of December of this year. We continue to deliver with unabated dynamics. Today we got a certain compliment that we are the frontrunners of all countries to start dealing with these steps, and the others still do not have such an intention,” said PM Mickoski after the commissioning of the reconstructed traumatology department at the St. Naum Ohridski Surgical Diseases Clinic based in Skopje.
