PM Mickoski:  It’s being checked whether oil companies are re-exporting to neighboring countries

At this point, we are sticking to the measure of reducing VAT to 10 percent for gasoline 95 and 98, as well as the measure of reducing excise duties. I expect diesel fuel prices to go down as of Monday, and the VAT on it will remain at 18 percent, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters.

PM Mickoski says he’s surprised that, allegedly, some companies that use this discount are re-exporting gasoline and diesel to neighboring countries, but such information is still being checked for accuracy.

“What surprised me, and we are checking whether it is true, is the fact that some of the companies that use this discount are re-exporting gasoline and diesel to neighboring countries. If that turns out to be true, and we are checking whether it is true, I urge those companies that there is no need for them to do that because we have not closed the borders to our neighbors. They are freely refueling at gas stations in Macedonia as we speak. There is no need for this type of speculative behavior if it is true, and we are checking whether it is true because that information has reached the Government. There are countries that have banned the re-export, amount of oil and oil derivatives, we have not done that as a state,” the PM underlined.
