Tourism is one of our priorities, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday in response to a media question about the situation in this particular sector in the country.

“According to the figures published by the State Statistics Office, last year we had an increased number of tourists, somewhere over 6 percent. However, what is particularly encouraging is that the number of foreign tourists has increased by over 10 percent. We are approaching the figure of 3 and a half overnight stays, which is significant data,” said PM Mickoski.

The PM points out that the practice of visiting Macedonia by organized groups continues, and he expects a future double-digit growth in foreign tourists.

“Simultaneously, we are working to support the construction and renovation of existing accommodation and catering facilities. Our goal is to manage to reach, if possible, 5 million overnight stays in Macedonia. We are working in that direction,” Mickoski pointed out.

The State Statistics Office (SSO) reported that the total number of tourists in the country last year was 6.0% higher than in 2024. There was an increase of 10.3% among foreign tourists, and a drop of 2.2% among domestic tourists.
