PPO files indictment against Artan Grubi, eight to be held accountable for abuse of office

Artan Grubi, along with fugitive Perparim Bajrami, is suspected of embezzlement of EUR 8 million in the State Lottery case

Former First Deputy Prime Minister in the SDSM-DUI-led government, Artan Grubi, is a suspect in the investigation related to the State Lottery case, and one of the key moments that he is being accused of is related to a government session that he chaired and on whose agenda an item related to procurements in the State Lottery was placed.

The Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) confirmed Thursday afternoon that it has filed an indictment against a total of 8 people as co-perpetrators in a criminal case – Abuse of official position and authority under Article 353, paragraph 5 in connection with paragraph 4 and paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

In addition to Grubi, the former CEO and head of the State Lottery Board of Directors, Prparim Bajrami, is also a suspect in the investigation.

Grubi fled the country shortly before the opening of the investigation and was out of the country for more than a year, after which he voluntarily returned. Upon his return, he was placed under house arrest.

Artan Grubi, along with fugitive Perparim Bajrami, is suspected of embezzlement of EUR 8 million in the State Lottery case.

The rest are suspected in their capacity as president and members of a commission for two separate public calls and are suspected of abusing their special powers and duties and conducting public calls for the transfer of the right to organize electronic and online games of chance, although they knew that such a procedure in the specific cases must not be carried out.
