The quality of drinking water in the city water supply in Gostivar, a city with almost 80,000 inhabitants in the northwestern part of the country, is being checked with extraordinary controls to determine whether there is a connection with the increased number of patients with digestive problems. Meanwhile, the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) responded to media question that for illegal intervention in the water supply network, actions are being taken upon the order of the public prosecutor following a report filed regarding the quality of drinking water.
Following the appearance of an increased number of citizens who have complained of stomach problems in the past ten days, the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) has requested that extraordinary controls be carried out on the drinking water distributed in the city water supply. The Department of Hygiene and Health Ecology at the Public Health Center, Regional Unit Gostivar, confirmed that an emergency control was conducted yesterday and that samples were taken from four measuring points.

According to the initial findings and blood work, these are most likely seasonal viruses and that there is no epidemiological connection.
