Macedonia and Slovenia are two countries whose relations are characterized by traditional friendship and deep cooperation in all areas, including the economy. Slovenia is one of our most consistent supporters in European integration and the fifth largest investor, said Macedonian President GordanaSiljanovska-Davkova in her address at the meeting of the Macedonian-Slovenian Business Club in Ljubljana.

According to the country’s head of state, what makesMacedonia attractive to Slovenian capital is not only the favorable climate, but also the traditional ties and the strong network of personal contacts maintained by the members of the business club.

Siljanovska-Davkovanotes that over 40 Slovenian companies are currently active in Macedonian strategic sectors.

“You have become pillars of our banking and insurance markets, and now you are also breaking through in the energy sector. The GEM 1 projects and their work with photovoltaics show that Slovenian expertise is helping us in the green transition,” the president pointed out.

The total trade exchange in 2025 amounted to approx.EUR 260 million, but I believe that we can do better, added President Siljanovska-Davkova.

“That is why we need to set a bold common goal – to reach EUR 500 million in trade exchange. We have the conditions, we know the habits, references and work ethics, and we also have traditional trust. For Macedonian consumers, Slovenian products are not foreign products, but quality brands with which they have grown. Similarly, for Slovenian companies, Macedonian businessmen are desirable partners. This trust is our greatest advantage and is social capital that can facilitate the work of the Macedonian-Slovenian business club,” noted Siljanovska-Davkova.
