Very soon you will hear about another, much larger irregularity than this one, which will surprise the entire Macedonian public, Macedonian Minister of Education and ScienceVesnaJanevska told reporters on Friday.
The announcement comes at a time when the events at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Skopje Saints Cyril and Methodius University are trending, where it has been determined that since 2019, the faculty has been illegally enrolling students in MBA and Ph.Dstudies, even though they had previously completed three-year professional studies, which legally did not allow them to enter the academic system of the second and third cycles.
These are seven people enrolled in master’s and four in doctoral studies and their enrollments, by decision of the State Education Inspectorate (SEI), have been canceled and their studies have been interrupted. So far, no one has received a doctorate, and eight have received a master’s degree, for which there is no decision on whether their diplomas will be valid.
“There are many irregularities in certain institutions, not in all, and they will be dealt with according to the law. Whether the administration or the management was to blame, whether some students participated in such actions, will be determined by the appropriate authorities,” Janevska said in response to reporter’s question.
Minister Janevska said that the SMI, whose report she received late on Thursday, determined where the shortcomings were and based on that, they made decisions on how to proceed. As the minister said, the Inspectorate acted on complaints and appeals from individuals.
The management of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Skopje Universitystated on Thursday that following the irregularities found, the studies of seven MBA students and four Ph.Dstudents are being suspended.
