The Safe City project, which aims to increase security in urban areas through modern technologies, will soon be implemented in the Macedonian city of Strumica.
It is a system that includes the installation of smart cameras and advanced software solutions for monitoring traffic, public order and the safety of citizens. Through automatic analysis, the system will enable a faster response by the competent services, as well as more efficient sanctioning of violations.
The project is already being implemented in Skopje, where it is expected to contribute to reducing traffic violations and improving public safety. With the expansion in Strumica, the competent institutions announce the coverage of key traffic routes and public areas in the city.
The local government notes that the implementation will take place in phases, in order for the system to be fully functional and adapted to the needs of citizens. At the same time, campaigns are also announced to inform the public about the method of operation and the benefits of “Safe City”.
The expectation is that the introduction of this system will increase security, reduce crime, and improve the quality of life in the city. However, some members of the public are already raising questions about privacy protection and the use of the collected data.
