At least six out of ten licensed companies for the production of cannabis for medical purposes, following the controls carried out, are in the process of losing their licenses, Macedonian Health Minister Azir Aliu told Telma TV.
“Of the companies processed so far, at least sixty out of ten are now in the process of revoking their licenses, because they do not meet the licensing requirements stipulated in the law,” Minister Aliu said.
He added that he could not provide more details that led the ministry’s expert committee to conclude that the procedure for revoking the licenses was initiated, because the procedure is still ongoing.
The controls followed after police seized over 40 tons of illegal marijuana in premises in Skopje and Strumica, in a company that had a license for production of medical cannabis.
