Macedonian National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski held a series of bilateral meetings with senior IMF representatives within the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, which are being held in Washington. The meetings were also attended by Macedonian Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska.

Governor Slaveski met with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, IMF European Department Director Alfred Kammer, Executive Director Jeroen Clicq and the Head of the IMF Mission for North Macedonia Nick Gigineishvili, the National Bank said in a press release.

The meetings discussed the latest global and domestic macroeconomic developments, emphasizing that increased geopolitical tensions, including the conflict in the Middle East, contribute to increased uncertainty in the global economy and affect growth prospects.

Regarding the domestic economy, it is assessed that the trends so far are favorable, and good policies have enabled the stability of macroeconomic fundamentals to be maintained. However, given the uncertainty about the duration and intensity of the turmoil in the world, the need for further vigilance and readiness for an appropriate response is emphasized. Governor Slaveski emphasized that the National Bank pursues a prudent and consistent monetary policy, aimed at maintaining price and financial stability. In doing so, he emphasized that the National Bank closely monitors global developments and their impact on domestic indicators, in order to react promptly and appropriately through the available instruments.
