The Struga Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) has launched an investigation into the enormous pollution of tap water, which has been affecting the residents of Struga and the region for several days.

“In coordination with the Ministry of Interior – Struga Regional Police, an order has been issued for the judicial police to inspect a location in the village of Shum, where the springs from which the area of the city of Struga is supplied with drinking water are located. The inspection should also be attended by competent inspection services from the field of the environment, the Food and Veterinary Agency, as well as the Center for Public Health. Other inspection actions will also be taken,” the Struga Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.

The water from the Struga water supply has been unsafe for drinking for several days. Struga residents are not allowed to use the water for drinking, preparing food, or maintaining personal hygiene. The water from the water supply is muddy and unclean, so they have to buy bottled water for all their daily needs.
