Former Minister of Health Venko Filipche was directly involved in the process of preparing the technical documentation for the modular hospital in Tetovo, where 14 people lost their lives in a fire, VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release on Friday.

“We talked about this last year in “Affair – Commissions that cost lives” where we pointed out a series of omissions and inconsistencies, but the extended hand of SDS Kocevski firmly kept the criminal charges and evidence for Filipche in a drawer.

According to Kadriu’s testimony, on the evening of the accident she was called to join the investigation, and later she was joined by representatives from the prosecution, including the then Chief Prosecutor Jovevski, who came with two of his prosecutors.

The role of Chief Prosecutor Jovevski and the others was to keep the process under their supervision and control.

According to Kadriu, around EUR 30 million were provided for the construction of these facilities. The World Bank then approved funds for the construction of modular hospitals on the territory of Macedonia.

Venko Filipche was a minister when the technical specifications for the modular hospitals were being prepared. The building of the modular hospital was made of panels recycled with foam, which at that time did not cost more than 5-6 euros. While the better and higher quality ones, such as panels with stone wool that do not burn for up to 40 minutes, cost around EUR 17. In other words, according to Kadriu, these modular hospitals cost around EUR 300,000, all together, and EUR 30 million were provided for this purpose.

Whose pocket did the money end up in?

Additionally, an appropriate electrical report was not prepared for the Tetovo modular hospital, which further affected safety,” reads the ruling party’s press release.
