A public prosecutor from the Kumanovo Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) has initiated proceedings against a 39-year-old resident of the village of Cherkezi, based on reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of endangering safety under Article 144, Paragraph 5 of the Criminal Code.
“The suspect insulted and threatened the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia via social media messages. Taking into account the circumstances of the offense, the risk of flight, and, in particular, the fact that the suspect has a history of committing other violent crimes (including acts of violence and loan sharking) as well as numerous public order offenses, the public prosecutor has submitted a proposal to the pre-trial judge to order detention,” the PPO said in a press release Monday.
Furthermore, evidence regarding the suspect’s past behavior indicates a confrontational individual prone to constant arguments, threats, and physical altercations with others; consequently, there is a real risk that such aggressive outbursts could escalate into the serious, dangerous crimes he has threatened to commit.
