A kilogram of Vranec grapes will be purchased for MKD 21.8, while Smederevka  will be purchase for MKD 20, said Macedonia’s newly appointed Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Borche Serafimovski on Wednesday.

Serafimovski says that the purchase price for the most common red and white wine grape varieties was actually obtained by increasing the production price by 25% determined by the Agricultural Institute.

The minister notes that the calculation took into account all relevant production parameters, including the costs of agrotechnical measures, protection, nutrition, labor, mechanization, raw materials and other fixed and variable costs, in accordance with the Methodology.

“The production price is determined based on real data obtained through field surveys and analyses of a representative sample of wine-growing farms, which ensures objectivity, expertise and transparency in the process of its determination. For greater transparency, the survey sheets were also publicly published on the website of the Agricultural Institute – Skopje,” Serafimovski pointed out.

The Ministry, Serafimovski stresses, remains committed to consistent application of legal procedures and to ensuring a fair, transparent and predictable process in the interest of winegrowers and the wine industry, with all activities being carried out in accordance with the Law on Wine and the by-laws regulating this area.

Last year, the Smederevka vine was purchased at a price of MKD 18.90, and the Vranec at a price of MKD 21.30.
