The Ministry of Education and Science is starting Monday with a visit to universities in Macedonia as part of the public debate on the new law on higher education.

As announced by Macedonian Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska, the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) will have a meeting with all professors who want to attend the public debate, where the controversial articles of the draft law will be discussed.

Minister Janevska says that the Ministry expects official comments from the universities.

“The public debate is not over yet, we are still expecting comments. We receive comments from ENER, we also receive them via email, but we also expect the universities to officially, by any means, submit their integrated comments. Everything that we consider reasonable will be accepted. Everything that we consider may pose a problem will be discussed. This means a meeting of the Ministry of Education and Science with all professors who want to attend the public hearing, where we will discuss the controversial articles. I see that for the most part there are no objections. Several articles remain controversial that we need to discuss and agree on,” said Janevska.

The education minister points out that Macedonia no longer has time for average and below-average results.

“I stress, we no longer have time to play with education and science. We do not have time for average and below-average results that bring us to this situation. We must move forward. The Ministry supports progress both legally and financially,” said Minister Janevska.
