World Day for Safety and Health at Work: 31 workers died last year in workplace accidents

A total of 132 workplace accidents were recorded in 2025, of which 31 were fatal, according to data from the 2025 Annual Report on Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases, which was published by the Macedonian Association for Safety and Health at Work on April 28 – World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

The highest number workplace accidents occurred in the manufacturing industry, where 33 accidents at work were registered, followed by 15 accidents in construction, public administration and defense and compulsory social security recorded 12, activities of households as employers and who produce various goods and perform various services for their own needs had 11, administrative and auxiliary service activities 10 accidents at work, transport and storage recorded 9 accidents, etc.

The report gives special attention to tragic events that marked the year, including the fire in the Pulse nightclub in Kochanithat had 63 victims, including a dozen employees, which, the Association emphasizes, further emphasized the importance of consistent compliance with safety regulations, risk management and effective inspection supervision.

On the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the Council for Safety and Health at Work is organizing an event in Skopje today supported by the project “Towards a Safe and Healthy Working Environment in North Macedonia”.
