A total of 17 wildfires were registered in the past 24 hours on the territory of Macedonia, of which one has been brought under control, and 16 have been completely extinguished, the Crisis Management Center (CMC) said on Sunday.
According to the CMC information, the fire in the Municipality of Makedonski Brod, in the area of the village of Belica, where pine forest and low vegetation were affected, is under control.
The fires in the Municipality of Gjorce Petrov near the village of Kuchkovo, in Veles near the village of Crkvino, in Negotino near the village of Crveni Bregovi and in Bogdanci near the village of Stojakovo, where mostly low and degraded vegetation was burning, have been extinguished.
Wildfires have also been extinguished in Strumica near the village of Dobrejci, in Bosilovo near the village of Bosilovo, as well as in the Municipality of Vasilevo, on the stretch between the villages of Chanaklija and Gjecherlija, where a landfill and low vegetation were affected.
The CMC informs that the fires at the monastery “St. Joakim Osogovski” in Kriva Palanka, near the village of Carevikj in Prilep, in the village of Nov Karaorman in the Municipality of Karbinci, as well as in the settlement of Babi in Shtip near the locality of Mirjanina Crkva have also been localized and extinguished.
Among those extinguished are the fires in Berovo’s Smojmirovo, in Skopje’s Butel, in Kumanovo, in the Municipality of Brvenica near the village of Miletino and in the Municipality of Krivogashtani near the village of Vogjani, where a landfill and low vegetation were burning.
The Crisis Management Center (CMC) points out that the fire situation is continuously monitored and urges citizens to act with caution in open areas in order to prevent the occurrence of new fires.
