14-year-old girl dies, first flu victim in Macedonia

A 14-year old girl died Wednesday of complications from the flu virus at the
Children’s Clinic in Skopje, Gordana Kuzmanovska of the Public Health Institute said
Thursday.
The girl, who suffered from chronic health problems, is the first flu victim of the
season.
In the past week, 3,614 flu cases were resisted throughout the country, a 27,9%
increase compared to the previous week.
Children, people with chronic diseases, and the elderly are are more severely
affected by the flu.
“Flu patients are hospitalized at the Skopje-based University Clinic for Infectious
Diseases and the Children’s Clinic. There have been no other flu-related death
cases in the past week,” said health officials.
