Coronavirus in Italy will also affect part of the Macedonian economy. The shoe industry will be particularly affected, and many of the Kumanovo companies are not excluded from closing, says Angel Dimitrov, president of the Textile and Leather Industry Association.

According to Dimitrov, a large part of northern Italy where Macedonian shoes are exported is closed, and there is no alternative market for placement.

“Our biggest partner in the clothing industry is Germany and we have no problems there, but in Italy, just as the coronavirus is now spreading, we have a lot of companies working with the leather industry,” Dimitrov said at a press conference at the Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia.
