Cable operators will stop broadcasting all domestic and foreign TV channels on
March 2, unofficially, Netpress reports.
As announced, they will broadcast only the public service broadcaster – MTV1,
MTV2 and the Parliamentary Channel.
Their decision was due to the new amendments to the Law on Audio and
Audiovisual and Media Services which the Parliament adopted on 16.02.2020, on
the day of its dissolution, after a summary and non-transparent procedure and
without prior public hearing. With the amendments to the Law on Audiovisual
Services, they are obliged to guarantee the copyright of the programs they
retransmit.
Yesterday, they came out in reaction to allegations by five national television stations
of allowing piracy. Claim that all programs that are part of the operator packages are
in accordance with national and international program retransmission regulations.
