About 2,500 legal entities are due to have access to free market electricity by March 31. These are mainly state-owned public utilities and municipalities that have until this deadline to choose an electricity supplier.
– These consumers should take their obligation seriously and start implementing public procurement as soon as possible because they have to choose their own electricity supplier by the end of March. Most are municipalities and state-owned enterprises, said ERC President Marko Bislimoski at a press conference today.
One of the benefits that municipalities will have with the emergence of the free electricity market is that they will reduce the cost of public lighting as the cost of networking is far lower than in the regulated electricity market.
If they do not enter the free electricity market by March 31, there is a risk that they will be disconnected from the electricity grid.
