Fines up to 5,000 euros, but also jail for anyone who sells more expensive lemons, oranges

On a proposal by the Ministry of Economy, the Government of North Macedonia at today’s session adopted a Decision on freezing the prices of lemon, orange, tangerine and grapefruit and clementine, informed the Ministry of Economy.

The Decision on the Special Conditions for Trade in Certain Goods sets the highest trade mark for these products for companies and sole proprietors applied between 1 January 2020 and 11 March 2020 when the World Health Organization (WHO) was declared pandemic of Coronavirus COVID-19.

According to the Decision, this mark will be valid until April 30, 2020.

According to the situation of declaring a pandemic, the traders these days are increasing the selling price of the southern fruit, where the price of lemon has increased dramatically and reached 180 denars (almost EUR) per kilogram.
