The work of the Joint Macedonian-Bulgarian Commission on Historical and Educational Issues must continue, because only through dialogue and conversation can those misunderstandings be overcome, especially historiographically between Bulgaria and Macedonia. If the work of that commission is interrupted, there will be a feeling that this good neighborliness between Bulgaria and Macedonia is not sincere and that there is no desire to overcome some historical issues that have burdened relations between the two countries for six or seven decades, said historian Dragi Gjorgiev.

Asked whether the Macedonian concept will change in any way when it returns to the negotiating table in the commission, given the full membership of Northern Macedonia in NATO and the date for negotiations with the European Union, the historian said he did not think the country will in some way abuse it.
