Every employer should receive 50 percent of the gross expenses per employee, and part of the money from private pension companies, the state should redirect to the first mandatory state pillar. This is part of the measures proposed by the opposition VMRO-DPMNE as a solution to the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview with “Faktor”, the party’s leader Hristijan Mickoski says that the consequences of this situation will be extremely severe for the Macedonian economy. However, he says that all the responsibility lies with the policy makers, the government.

“The budget before this crisis was dimensioned that we need extra funding of about one billion. Because the budget deficit, which was and is around 17 and a half billion, needs to be repaid, and the rest is for liabilities to lenders, bonds, etc. We were analyzing if the revenue collection in the budget fell by 30 to 35 percent. At the moment, in order for us to be able to keep the budget stable, we will need those billions, at least another 1.2 billion. So that’s serious money. And they were supposed to announce at least January for interest on the Eurobond – they decided to borrow 150 million euros from domestic banks with a maturity of one year. They thought that the elections would be bridged and that it was a political logic. But that’s wrong, now it’s clear that this is the abyss into which we have sunk. And now who should be responsible, those who enjoy political privileges and who make decisions. We are the opposition, we can say how it doesn’t cost us, they should bear responsibility “, says Mickoski.
