Kumanovo Mayor Maksim Dimitrievski has shared a post on Facebook Thursday saying that he has been tested positive for COVID-19. He said he is among the new 40 residents who tested positive for COVID-19 today in Kumanovo.

“I’ve just got the latest test results showing that I am among the forty people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Kumanovo,” wrote Dimitrievski.

Kumanovo, according to the size of the municipality and the total population, is the most affected area of the epidemic in the country. According to the latest officially published figures, 263 people have been infected and there are ten dead. Therefore, Dimitrievski and almost the entire population in the municipality demanded the introduction of special quarantine measures and the closure of the city following the example of Debar, where it was done immediately after the discovery of the first cases of COVID-19 in early March.

On Wednesday, Mayor Dimitrievski met with his fellow citizen and fellow party member, Technical Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski, Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani, Ministers Venko Filipce and Arbr Ademi and Zarko Karadzovski, chairman of the Commission on Infectious Diseases.
