Police will conduct checks along the MOC-AO temples on Saturday before Easter and during the Easter holidays, after the government last week tightened the curfew, which will start on Friday at 4pm and last until Tuesday at 5am.
Although it is clear that only the priests and journalists will be present at the Easter liturgies on Saturday night, the government has decided to oblige the Interior Ministry to intensify controls over religious temples during the upcoming holiday.
It is still uncertain how the police would conduct these controls, as the movement during a curfew without a permit is punishable by law, a fine of 2,000 euros or a prison sentence, so hardly anyone would dare to go to church.
