The opposition party VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski in an interview with the daily Vecer published on Saturday says that the indecision of the caretaker government in adopting protective economic measures in times of crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic reflects the health of citizens, as well as the big drop in their standard of living.

“I would say very lazy, unconvincing, without having a serious concept that will give citizens a sense of security that they can be calm. In the whole period, the indecision of the government costs the citizens two things, the first is health, the second is the standard. At the outset, the government underestimated the crisis and entered unprepared as if they did not know that the epidemic was at the door, that it had come to Italy or Austria and would remain there. Then, with a lot of lost time, it heals the consequences of its actions. It seems that there is no way to keep up with the situation, to control the situation, and to curb the uncontrolled emptying of the budget and the growing hole. I am afraid that we are entering a Greek debt scenario, and the government is obviously not even aware of what is happening, nor does it have the potential to find and apply solutions so that we do not fall into economic collapse,” said the VMRO-DPMNE leader.

Mickoski says the government has a completely wrong approach, instead of stimulating the economy and consumption, the government is putting pressure on the economy and losing employees’ incomes.

“You can see for yourself, budget money is being spent on something that does not create new money, and that is the worst thing in the economy. It acts defensively, rather than offensively. The government does not have its own analysis of its own situation in the country and does not have its own solutions, but it is late to copy others and take measures and policies without taking into account the local specifics”, Mickoski said.
