Family iftar gatherings in recent weeks have caused an increased number of coronavirus cases in the Gazi Baba Municipality, says Mayor Borce Georgievski.
Of the 37 newly infected with COVID-19 registered in the past 24 hours, 12 are from Skopje, and 5 cases are residents of the Gazi Baba Municipality.
Most of the cases come from family clusters that disrespected the measures and would gather during the iftar dinners in Singelic. Sadly, we have a deceased person from one of those clusters, said Georgievski.
Mayor Georgievski called on the citizens to respect the measures put in place to stop the spread of the virus.
Of the total number of 199 active cases in Skopje, as pointed out by the Ministry of Health, the distribution by municipalities is as follows: Saraj – 41, Gazi Baba – 39, Cair – 38, Aerodrom – 25, Butel – 13, Gjorce Petrov – 9, Center – 9, Karpos – 7, Ilinden – 7, Suto Orizari – 6, Kisela Voda – 3, Studenicani – 1, Petrovec – 1.
