Darkest statistics so far – 8 patients died, 196 new COVID-19 cases, and Zaev demands elections

Today is probably the darkest day of the coronavirus statistics in Macedonia. T he Ministry of Health said Saturday that 1,213 tests  were carried out and 196 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the country over the past 24 hours, while 8 patients have died.

Eight patients died, four from Skopje, one from Struga, one from Ohrid, one from Gostivar and one from Resen.

Two people from Skopje died at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Febrile Conditions, a patient aged 76 years, hospitalized 10 days ago, a patient aged 67, hospitalized 8 days ago and a patient from Gostivar 31, hospitalized on 26 May.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the country has registered 3,895 cases. 1,705 people recovered and the number of active cases is 2,011. Death toll has reached 179.

Despite the growing number of new coronavirus cases, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev insists on holding elections on July 5.
