Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani posted in Facebook that the prosecution had closed the investigation into the “Patient” case opened by the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office against him, finding no illegal activity.

Osmani wrote that all speculations and false accusations against him have ended. The prosecution confirmed the information and announced more details later.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office for criminal offenses related to and arising from the content of illegal interception of communications in October 2018 opened an investigation conducted under the code name “Patient” and refers to embezzlement with the construction of a new wing in the general hospital in Ohrid.

According to the indictment, there is a well-founded suspicion of abuse of office and authorization of officials and responsible persons in public procurement procedures for performing construction and construction-craft work in several public health institutions throughout the country. The investigation involved 15 people, including Bujar Osmani, as Minister of Health, who instead of rejecting the Commission’s proposal, decided to select the most favorable bid of the bidder, the Bulgarian company GBS Blagoevgrad.
