94.9 percent fewer foreign tourists in July 2020

The total number of tourists recorded in July 2020 by the State Statistical Office was 75.591, marking a drop of 56 percent compared to July 2019.

According to the latest figures released by the SSO, tourists spent 436.180 nights in the country – 36.1 percent down from last year.

The number of local tourists in July 2020 decreased by only 4.8 percent compared to July 2019. The number of foreign tourists decreased by 94.9 percent, however.

“The number of nights spent by domestic tourists in July 2020, compared to July 2019, decreased by 6.3 percent, and the number of nights spent by foreign tourists decreased by 93.4 percent,” the SSO release reads.

Between January and July 2020, compared to the same time last year, 67.4 percent fewer tourists visited North Macedonia.

The number of local tourists decreased by 43.9 percent and of foreign tourists decreased by 79.6 percent.

Between January and July 2020, compared to the same time last year, the number of nights spent was down by 56.6 percent.

Local tourists spent 30.8 percent fewer nights and foreign tourists spent 80.3 fewer nights in the country.
