The promise of the current Prime Minister of SDSM Zoran Zaev for the state public prosecutor to be at the suggestion of the opposition given five years ago, is now unacceptable for the Government led by him. Following the request of VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, the opposition to nominate a new public prosecutor, the Minister of Justice Bojan Marichikj says that such a thing was not necessary, assessing that the current prosecutor has done his job successfully.

“I will repeat that the election of a state public prosecutor is a constitutional category, it is defined in the Constitution and in order to change it, a change of the Constitution is needed. I do not believe that is a priority at the moment, we have a good state public prosecutor,” Marichikj said.

The election of the Republic Public Prosecutor at the proposal of the opposition was one of the main promises of SDSM, in the program “Plan for Life in Macedonia”, for the parliamentary elections in 2016. This promise was repeated many times by Zaev and other party officials in that period.
