Dimitrov to seek support in Paris for the first EU intergovernmental conference

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov will pay a working visit to France tomorrow and Wednesday, as emphasized by the SEA, in anticipation of the definition of the Negotiating Framework that should incorporate the elements arising from the new methodology for accession negotiations, initiated by Paris.

During the visit to Paris, the first since the formation of the new Government, a meeting is scheduled with the Secretary of State for European Affairs at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Clément Beaune, Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs in the French Senate Jean-François Rappen, with Isabel Dumont , Diplomatic Adviser for Continental Europe and Turkey in President Macron’s Cabinet, with Carolyn Vienneau, Deputy Secretary General for European Affairs of the Government of France, and with Liliana Tangi, Member of the National Assembly.

“The focus of the talks will be the French support in this crucial phase of our European integration – holding the first Intergovernmental Conference with the EU by the end of the year; The dynamics of the adoption of the Negotiating Framework, and the progress of the country noted in the European Commission Report, as well as the key priorities of the EU agenda on which the Government will be focused in the next period will be discussed,” the statement reads.
