Negotiations can end in two ways, i.e. either for Bulgaria and Macedonia or Macedonia to wait indefinitely for negotiations indefinitely, said Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov during the opening ceremony of a memorial plaque dedicated to of Goce Delchev in the Bulgarian town of Samokov, a historical figure whose nationality is the subject of the dispute.

He revealed that Bulgaria reaffirmed its position on Tuesday and that it did not intend to back down because it was a “sovereign state with dignity and sovereign politics”. According to him, after the talks with the Macedonian side, it turned out that “Bulgaria is not pursuing a policy of stubbornness, but a policy of principle.”

There is a deadline by which the Macedonian government should correct everything it has failed to do so far in the treaty with Bulgaria in exchange for a green light for the start of negotiations, Krasimir Karakachanov confirmed on Wednesday.
