New archeological sites and individual finds discovered and mapped on the east shore of Lake Ohrid

In October, the National Institution “Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and Museum – Ohrid” implemented a project for underwater archaeological reconnaissance of parts of the east shore of Lake Ohrid, aimed at exploring sites on the lake for which there were indications of archaeological sites.

At the same time, the project explored individual findings, defined the boundaries of potential archaeological sites, their positioning with the help of GPS devices, but also the discovery of new sites, with the ultimate goal of their entry in the national register of cultural heritage in RS Macedonia. In addition to the reconnaissance parts near the villages of Peshtani and Trpejca, special attention is paid to two locations in the vicinity of the site “PlochaMikjov grad”, discovered during free diving activities of members of the “Amphora” diving center in Ohrid.
