Parliament approves 2021 budget without the opposition’s vote

Parliament approved at a session late Sunday evening the 2021 budget and law on its execution by 62 votes in favour, none against and no abstentions, following a five-day debate. MPs from opposition parties VMRO-DPMNE, Levica, Alliance for Albanians and Alternativa did not attend the session.

The budget for 2021 projects a GDP growth of 4.1% and deficit of 4.9%. Revenues are planned at a level of Mden 212.6 billion (EUR 3.45 billion), while expenditures at Mden 247.5 billion (EUR 4.02 billion). Capital investments are projected at Mden 23 billion (EUR 374 million).

Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi elaborating the complemented draft-Budget before the Parliament, said it is realistic, allocating funds in sectors where they would be most effective.
