The companies will be exempt from customs duties for one year, which in 2019 amounted to 162.4 million euros in order to increase the export competitiveness of the processing industry, the government said.
This decision was made at Wednesday’s government session.
“The government has decided to abolish import duties – customs rates on certain raw materials used in the processing industry to facilitate the operating conditions of these companies and to increase their competitiveness in a pandemic and difficult operation of companies from the processing industry “, informs the government press service.
The proposed lists of products covered by this decision, which is the first adopted by the new fifth set of economic measures to deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, were prepared by the Economic Chamber of Macedonia after consultation with member companies of the Economic Chamber metal processing industry, metallurgy, textile and leather industry.
