ID cards, passports and driver’s licenses become bilingual – “North” added to the country’s name

The Government approved Wednesday the texts of the Draft-Law on Amending the Law on Passports of the Citizens of Macedonia, the Draft-Law on Amending the Law on Identity Card and the Draft-Law on Amending the Law on Road Traffic Safety.

According to the government press service, the determination of these texts is due to adaptation with the legal solutions in the Law on the Use of Languages, as well as in terms of the deadline for replacement of existing passports containing the inscription “Republic of Macedonia” with passports with the new constitutional name of the country, observing the deadline stated in Article 3 of the Constitutional Law for implementation of Amendments 33 to 36 of the Constitution.

The Government announces that the Draft-Law on Amending the Law on Passports of the Citizens of Macedonia, the Draft-Law on Amending the Law on Identity Card, as well as the Draft-Law on Amending the Law on Road Traffic Safety, will be submitted for adoption to the Assembly in a regular procedure.
