Due to the increase in the number of daily coronavirus infections and the deteriorating epidemiological situation with the coronavirus epidemic, the Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric called for a temporary postponement of the population census scheduled by the government for early April.

“Due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation with the COVID-19 crisis in our country, the Synod expresses concern and recommends temporarily, following the example of other European countries, which for the same reasons have already postponed scheduled censuses and our country to follow their example, respecting health protocols,” reads the statement.
