After indebting the country for nearly 7 billion, they left 55,000 people on the streets and closed 6,200 companies, Zaev and SDSM are now working on privatizing the Customs. Zaev and SDSM want to get their hands on the collection of excise duty on tobacco, medicines, beer and wine. Zaev and SDSM want to have a competent insight into the trends in the tobacco, pharmaceutical and alcoholic beverage industry. Privatization of the Customs is privatization of the state, says VMRO-DPMNE.
“The government, through changes in the law and the establishment of a public-private partnership with a private company that will collect excises, directly gives the same company strength, power and authority as a state body. A private company will take over all competencies regarding the collection of excise from the Customs Administration. The country will not benefit from this public-private partnership for the privatization of the Customs, and the only benefit will be the private company that in this model would be a partner of the state. Which is that private company and does Zaev personally plan for him, or some of his family members, or people close to them to actually be the owners of the company that will privatize the Customs”, says the opposition party.
VMRO-DPMNE says that the Customs Administration is a state body, and the competencies that the Customs has are competencies that only a state body can have.
