The Ministry of Education and Science isn’t considering shutting down schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Education Minister Mila Carovska on Sunday in an interview with Radio Free Europe said the situation in schools nationwide is stable and there was no need for additional measures.
“The situation in the educational system regarding the coronavirus is absolutely stable and I say this quite responsibly. On December 3 [2020] we recorded the highest peak in the first semester with 168 teachers and 88 pupils having contracted the virus. Now, there are only 62 pupils in the country and 98 teachers, which is far below the December peak,” Carovska said adding it represents less than 1 percent of the total number of teachers and 0,06 percent of pupils.
